By The school President,
THE HEADMASTER, MR. BAKSHIS REPORT ON THE SCHOOL SPORTS DAY 1966
Mr. Akech, Mrs. Akech, Mr. Bachte, my colleagues, dear pupils and invited guests. I have a great pleasure to welcome you Sir. For gracing the occasion and you Madam for distributing the lovely trophies to the winning team.
Before I say anything about today’s sport, I wish to quote a paragraph from the East African standard of 25th Nov, 1969 under the heading “All should aid integration” the reporter of the East Africa standard writes that-addressing parents and pupils at the open day of Nairobi South Primary School, the chairman of the city council’s education committee Mr. A. M. Akech (the chief guest of today’s function) appealed to all concerned to see that integration in schools went smoothly. Mr. Akech further said “You should not be surprised when you see a lot of application from Africans next year’s”.
Sir, it is not a matter of surprise to me but it is a fact that this school has admitted more than 40 African children from the beginning of this year. Not a single African parent who was able to pay the term face went out of the school with dissatisfaction but we admitted all the African children without even paying attention to proper education background and age limit.
I hope that the total strength of the African children will be more than 150 in January 1965.More than children boys and girls took part in finals and won first, second and third place.
SOMETHING ABOUT TODAY’S SPORTS MEETING
With the exception of only four physically handicapped children 564 boys and girls participated in athletic events. More than 350 children took part in the finals. Child of today will not be satisfied in the four walls of a stone house of a school building but he is determined to take a keen interest in crafts, sport, project work and visits to places of interest. What is the aim of Education? Of coursed …… round development of a child. You won’t mind Sir. If I launch an appeal personally to you.
- The land office has been generous enough to give the school a place of land consisting of 2.4 acres. It is uneven and needs leveling. If this is done during the coming holidays we have used today, a complete football ground and a full fletched cricket field.
- The tennis and badminton courts need resurfacing and leveling and nothing.
I am sure that it is definitely very easy for the chief guest to see that it will be carried out quickly during the coming holidays as I have already written letters to the city Education officer weeks before. In return Sir you will get blessings from the young souls.
THANKS TO OFFICIALS AND MEMBERS OF PARENT’S ASSOCIATION
I should thank Mr. Wanyoike the chief judge, Mr. Okongo and his party of judge, the strong, stout starter Mr. Kimondo, and members of parents’ Association, without whose help, we would have been unable to make this function a success.

I am not a selfish man to forget the back bones of today’s function. If you think that it is worth seeing, then all credit should go to my hard working staff whom I wish to pay a public tribute for their very loyal and pains taking ability.
